Your questions, answered honestly.
We get asked a lot of the same things before a first visit. Here are the real answers, no dental jargon, no runaround.
Accepting new patients
CDCP accepted
Same-day emergencies
New Patients & Appointments
Yes, we're currently welcoming new patients of all ages, including infants, children, and seniors. We offer a complimentary new patient consultation so you can meet our team, get a full oral health assessment, and ask any questions before committing to anything. Book online or call us at (905) 864-3336, we typically have availability within a few days.
Your first visit includes a comprehensive oral exam, digital X-rays (if clinically appropriate), an intraoral camera tour of your mouth, gum health assessment, and a full review of your dental and medical history. We then walk you through exactly what we found in plain language and give you a written treatment plan with transparent pricing if any follow-up care is needed. There's no pressure, no rush.
Any previous dental X-rays or records if you have them (not required), your insurance card, and a list of any medications you're currently taking. If you don't have records from a previous dentist, don't worry, we can start fresh. Just arrive a few minutes early so we can get your basic information set up before the appointment begins.
For routine checkups, we recommend booking a week or two in advance to get your preferred time. For urgent or emergency appointments, call us as soon as possible, we reserve same-day slots every day. We'll do our best to get you in quickly regardless of whether you're an existing patient or brand new to the practice.
Insurance & Payment
Yes, we proudly accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan. The CDCP is now available to Canadians of all ages who qualify based on household income, and it can cover a significant portion of dental costs. If you're enrolled or think you may be eligible, let us know when you book. Our front desk team can help you understand what's covered before your appointment so there are no surprises.
We work with most major Canadian dental insurance providers including Sun Life, Great-West Life, Manulife, Desjardins, Blue Cross, and others. We'll verify your benefits before treatment begins and let you know exactly what's covered and what your estimated out-of-pocket cost will be. We never start treatment without making sure you understand the costs first.
Yes, we direct bill to most major insurance providers so you only pay your portion at the time of your appointment. If for any reason direct billing isn't available for your plan, we'll provide all the documentation you need to submit a claim yourself. Just bring your insurance card and provider details to your appointment.
We accept VISA, Interac (debit), and MasterCard. Payment is due at the time of service. We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide and always provide a written treatment estimate before beginning any care. If you have concerns about the cost of a planned treatment, please bring it up when you book, we'll do our best to work with you.
Emergency Dental Care
Yes, every day. We hold dedicated same-day slots for dental emergencies because tooth pain and injuries don't wait. Call us at (905) 864-3336 as soon as you can. A real person will answer and we'll get you in that day. This applies to both new and existing patients, you don't need to have seen us before to be seen for an emergency.
Dental emergencies include severe or persistent toothache, a knocked-out or loosened tooth, a cracked or broken tooth (especially with pain), a dental abscess or swelling, a lost filling or crown that is causing pain, and any mouth injury from trauma. If you're unsure whether your situation qualifies, call us anyway. We'd rather you call and find out it can wait than wait and have it get worse.
Pick up the tooth by the crown (the white part you chew with), not the root. If it's dirty, gently rinse it with water, don't scrub or use soap. If possible, place it back in the socket immediately. If you can't do that, keep it moist: in a small container of milk, saline solution, or between your cheek and gum. Then call us immediately and get to our office as quickly as possible. Time matters, the sooner you're seen, the better the chance of saving the tooth.
Treatments & Procedures
Yes. We offer Invisalign clear aligners for adults and teens. Invisalign is a great option if you want to straighten your teeth without metal brackets and wires. Treatment starts with a digital scan of your teeth, no uncomfortable impressions. Book a consultation and we'll show you a digital preview of what your smile could look like after treatment, so you can make a fully informed decision before committing to anything.
Take-home professional whitening from our office typically takes 10–14 days of nightly use with custom-fitted trays. The trays are made from an impression of your teeth to ensure even, comfortable coverage. Results are noticeably whiter than over-the-counter products and last significantly longer. If you prefer faster results, ask about our in-office options during your next appointment.
A lot less than people expect. Root canal treatment has a reputation that dates back decades to when techniques and anesthetics were far less advanced. Today, with proper local anesthesia, most patients say the procedure is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. The pain you're feeling before a root canal, from the infected tooth, is typically much worse than the treatment itself. Most people leave wondering what all the fuss was about.
Dental implants are a great option for most adults with one or more missing teeth and sufficient jawbone density. The best way to find out if you're a candidate is with a consultation and digital imaging to assess your bone structure. Good candidates are non-smokers (or willing to quit during healing) with healthy gums and no uncontrolled systemic conditions. We'll walk you through everything at your first appointment and give you an honest assessment of your options.
Children & Family Care
We recommend a child's first dental visit within 6 months of their first tooth coming in, or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. Early visits aren't just about checking for cavities. They help us catch developmental issues early, get children comfortable with dental care before any anxiety develops, and give parents guidance on diet, brushing, and healthy habits from the start. The first visit is short and stress-free.
This is very common and something our team is experienced with. We use a "tell-show-do" approach where we explain what we're going to do, show them the tools (often letting them touch or hold them), and then proceed slowly. We never rush a child. Parents are welcome to stay with their child throughout the appointment. For many of our young patients, the first few visits are purely about getting comfortable, no treatment, just familiarity. Many kids end up loving coming in.
Yes, and we encourage it. We can often schedule back-to-back appointments for family members on the same day, which saves you trips. Just let us know how many family members you'd like to book when you call or book online, and we'll do our best to arrange it in one visit. It's one of the advantages of choosing a dedicated family dental practice.
Anxiety & Comfort
Tell us, before or at the start of your appointment. Dental anxiety affects roughly 40% of adults and we've heard it all. We genuinely won't judge you. When we know you're anxious, we adjust the whole appointment: we go slower, explain everything before doing it, check in often, and stop whenever you need a break. You're always in control of the pace. Many of our most anxious patients now come in regularly because they've had experiences here that actually felt okay.
We use local anesthesia for all procedures that require it, ensuring you feel no pain during treatment. For patients with significant anxiety, we can discuss additional comfort options during your consultation. Our goal is to make dental care accessible to everyone, regardless of how nervous you feel. Please call and speak with us directly if this is a concern, we can often address anxieties simply by talking through what your visit will involve before you arrive.
If you let us know ahead of time that you're anxious, your first visit can be as low-key as you need it to be. We can start with just a conversation, learning about your history, what's made you nervous in the past, and what you'd like to work on. No obligation to have anything done on visit one. Many patients find that just meeting the team and seeing the space takes away most of the anxiety on its own. We work at your pace, always.
